1. Exfoliation
Exfoliation is crucial as it removes dead skin cells, allowing new cells to absorb the tanning color more effectively. This process smooths the top layer of skin, ensuring a flawless spray tan application, and stimulates blood flow, promoting cell regeneration.
3. Hydration
Hydration is important both inside and out. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and moisturizing 1-2 times per day. Moisturize 18-24 hours before tanning, especially after exfoliating, to strengthen the skin and help the tan last longer. Using tan extending lotions at least once a day will also prolong your tan.
2. Development
Development is key to a successful tan. Always follow your technician’s guidelines on when to shower. Showering too early can wash off the tanning solution before the color fully absorbs into the skin, which can affect the final result.
4. Maintenance
Maintenance involves using the products recommended by your technician to ensure your tan lasts. Your sunless products should be paraben-free, contain minimal or no sulfates, alcohols, or other harsh ingredients, and provide moisture without excessive oils that can strip the tan. Water-based products are ideal.
